We love CoachArt

If you’ve checked out our Charity of the Month feature, then you know this month’s charity is CoachArt.  We’re so excited to be working with CoachArt, and if you haven’t already seen it, CoachArt clients will be attending our Baking Around the World launch party!! Even better – we’ll be donating 10% of all sales made from books at the party to the organization.

We’re taking our New Year’s Resolutions pretty seriously this year!

Yvette Garfield, founder of Handstand Kids, wants to do this in the new year:
-Try more exotic fruits
-Have a friends potluck dinner once a month

Ruth Lerdahl, Yvette’s right-hand-woman, aims to do these things in the new year:
-Go hiking
-Volunteer in her neighborhood
-Explore new areas of Los Angeles and California
-Hear more live music
-Plan more get-togethers with friends

Have you come up with yours yet? Happy almost 2012!

We’re Loving Homegirl Café

We recently learned of Homegirl Café, a phenomenal social enterprise that targets those who are at-risk and/or formerly involved with gang life.  The men and women are trained to become contributing members of society through training in the restaurant service and culinary arts industries.

Homegirl Café offers a one year training program within the food and service industry, in order to empower young people and change their lives.

LA: Support a Great Cause This Weekend

We’re excited to be participating in this year’s 7th Annual Run for Her 5k Run & Friendship Walk.  The event, run for her® 5k Run and Friendship Walk, supports ovarian cancer research, treatment and education at Cedars-Sinai. To date, run for her® has raised nearly $4 million for the Cedars-Sinai Women’s Cancer Program at the Samuel Oschin Comprehensive Cancer Institute!

Wake up early this Sunday, November 13th, get your little ones moving with you, and raise funds for a terrific organization.

Ladies, let’s get moving! For more information, visit their website here.
